Sohail Khan

President and Chief Executive Officer

Sohail has spent more than 25 years in the communications and semiconductor industries, establishing an impressive record of building successful global businesses, creating new products and developing new markets. He came to SiGe Semiconductor from Agere Systems where he held various senior management positions including executive vice president, infrastructure systems and executive vice president, strategy and development. Prior to Agere’s spin-out, he was president of Lucent’s $3 billion integrated circuits business and achieved a leadership positions in telecom, wireless and mass storage ICs. He also spent time at Bessemer Venture Partners as an entrepreneur in residence/operating partner, helping them evaluate new investment opportunities and providing support to portfolio companies. His management experience extends to AT&T, NEC Electronics, and Intel. Today, Sohail sits as director on the boards of LightPath Technologies and GainSpan Corporation. He holds a master of business administration from the University of California at Berkeley, and a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of Engineering in Lahore, Pakistan.

Bill Burke

Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

Bill’s experience in corporate finance spans two decades. He is deeply familiar with all aspects of accounting to treasury functions, for both public and private multinational companies. Most recently, he served as executive vice president, chief financial officer and executive vice president of business development at Riverdeep/The Learning Company, where he led a dual-listed initial public offering with an opening day market capitalization of $2 billion, and managed revenue growth from $5 million to over $225 million. Bill also served as vice president of finance and administration at AXS-One (formerly Computron Software Corporation) and as senior audit manager at Andersen LLP. He is a certified public accountant (CPA), and earned his bachelor of business administration in accounting with Honors at Northeastern University.

Peter L. Gammel

Chief Technical Officer and Vice President Engineering

Peter has worked with single-electron devices, superconducting devices, and MEMS and RF acoustic wave devices for more than 20 years. He is well acquainted with the processes of intellectual property investment, new product and funding development. Peter previously served as VP engineering at a venture-backed startup, assembling and managing a 15-person team to develop RF acoustic wave products. He was chief technology officer at both AdvanceNanotech, Inc. and Agere Systems (analogue products business unit), and was a research director at Bell Laboratories. Peter has more than 200 referred technical publications and more than 25 patents issued and in process. He holds a PhD in physics from Cornell University and bachelor of science degrees in physics and mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Bill Haberlin

Chief Operating Officer and Vice President Sales

Bill has more than 22 years of experience in the communications semiconductor industry. In his former role as sales director at Zarlink Semiconductor he was responsible for applications support, product introductions and global customer relationships. Bill was also previously regional sales manager at GEC Plessey Semiconductors, and vice president of sales and sales engineer at Stone Component Sales Corp. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin.

John Brewer

Vice President, Corporate and Business Development

John’s 25 years in the wireless semiconductor industry extend across the disciplines of engineering, marketing and management at the senior executive level. Prior to joining SiGe Semiconductor he was CEO and president of Xindium, a company providing RF power amplifiers for next-generation mobile handsets and terminals. Previously, he founded Vincio, a marketing consultancy serving wireless communications startups such as Nitronex and Xerox PARC. John was also a founder and vice president, marketing of Tropian, a company that developed a revolutionary approach to cell phone front ends. Over the years he has successfully grown wireless transceiver product lines in management positions at SEIKO Communications, Analog Devices and Tektronix. John holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Santa Clara University.

Alistair Manley

Vice President, Marketing

SiGe benefits from Alistair’s more than 30 years of experience in business development, marketing and sales. In his previous role at Zarlink Semiconductor, he managed business development, product definition, field sales and training, and strategic accounts for the company’s set-top box and cellular products. Before that, Alistair held various marketing and engineering positions at GEC Plessey Semiconductors, and Texas Instruments. He holds a Higher National Diploma from the Northampton College of Technology.

Morris Tan

Vice President, Operations

Morris has more than 20 years of experience in product engineering, quality analysis, and the test and manufacture of semiconductor devices. He came to SiGe from Zarlink Semiconductor, where he was director of operations for worldwide new product introductions and product engineering. During his 10 years at Zarlink he occupied a variety of increasingly senior product engineering, process engineering and quality-based roles. He also spent seven years as product quality and reliability engineering section manager at Intel Corporation. Other prior positions include: software engineer at Softline Systems; and founder and president of Software Solutions, Inc., a consulting company that builds custom business systems. Morris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering from De La Salle University.
