SiGe’s SE2593A RF front-end module wins leading product at EDN China Innovation Awards 2008

SiGe Semiconductor’s SE2593A, has been awarded leading product status in the high-profile and highly competitive EDN (Electronic Design News) China Innovation Awards 2008.

The SE2593A, the world’s most integrated RF front-end module for Wi-Fi applications that meet and exceed the IEEE 802.11n specification requirements, was chosen for a leading product award in the popular Communications and Network IC category.

Commenting on SiGe’s win, Alistair Manley, vice president marketing, SiGe Semiconductor, said, “We are honored to again receive this prestigious industry recognition from EDN China. Products were assessed and selected by a panel of EDN China judges, consisting of industry experts and specialists from China’s leading OEM companies, academic institutes, universities and EDN China’s editorial board. Readers and registered users of EDN China were invited to vote for the winners in nine categories.

The award winning SE2593A features both 2.4GHz and 5GHz power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, power detector, transmit and receive switch, diplexers and matching and filtering components in a miniature land grid array package (LGA). It features an integrated temperature compensated power detector capable of 15 dB dynamic range with <1dB of error under 3:1 mismatch conditions. The resulting performance enables higher data rate transmission under stringent environment conditions and over longer distances, enabling compliance to existing 802.11n and final ratification requirements. The SE2593A meets the demands of applications in high-speed data and video distribution systems.

The SE2593A is a system solution with all RF ports that are 50 Ohm matched, removing the complex issues of connection interface to baseband and antenna functions. This removes the need for external matching components, and simplifies integration and PCB layout.
